Dr. LaShaunda P. Massey is a licensed clinical psychologist, and she has maintained a private practice for 14 years. She provides clinical services to children, adults, and families; and her work specializes in childhood clinical issues, abuse/neglect, trauma, and depression/anxiety disorders. In 2016, Dr. Massey began providing educational services relative to mental health including conducting workshops and seminars for Memphis City Government, Shelby County Government, and the Shelby County School System. Through her private practice, Dr. Massey provides internships for college students aspiring to enter the field of psychology and she has also home-schooled her two sons for the past 5 years.
Dr. Massey obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. She graduated with honors from DePaul University in Chicago with a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Psychology. Dr. Massey completed her doctoral internship through the University of Tennessee Psychology Consortium and has been licensed as a Clinical Psychologist by the state of Tennessee since 2001. Dr. Massey is an alum of Leadership Memphis, Executive Program 2016 and a member of the Junior League of Memphis. She is currently on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midsouth where she serves as Board Secretary and chairman of the Program Committee. Dr. Massey’s motto is “Cogito Ergo Sum,” a Latin phrase meaning “I think, therefore I am.” She believes thoughts are the catalyst for feelings and actions, thus mastery of the mind is a key to success.
