Chief Executive Officer at Christ Community Health Services
Shantelle A. Leatherwood, MHA, serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Christ Community Health Services. Of her 20 years of healthcare experience, Ms Leatherwood served 18 of those years with Christ Community working her way through the organization to the position of Chief Executive Officer.
Christ Community Health Services is a faith-based, federally qualified health center serving over 60,000 individuals in the Memphis community, is the largest faith based health center in the country and the largest provider of primary care in Shelby County. As CEO, Ms. Leatherwood’s responsibilities include the management of eight health centers, five pharmacies and five dental centers strategically located in area neighborhoods that lack adequate healthcare.
Prior to accepting the position as CEO, Ms. Leatherwood served as Christ Community Health Services’ Chief Administrative Officer, where her responsibilities included billing, population health, quality improvement, corporate compliance, clinical risk management, federal grants management, new strategic initiatives and public relations.
Mrs. Leatherwood holds a bachelor’s degree in Health Administration and Planning from Tennessee State University and a Master’s Degree in Health Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She has served on a number of Boards, has been recognized by the George Washington; School of Public Health’s Geiger Gibson Program as an Emerging Leader in the Community Health Center movement and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
Ms. Leatherwood is an active member of Bellevue Baptist Church. She is married to Charles Leatherwood and has two children, Alexis (10) and Charles Christopher (7).
